Listening to this, I sometimes had the sense that I was hearing a string group, given Tyler's tone and the cello and two  bassists playing with him.

I recall getting Our Thing on CD. I’d never heard of any of the musicians at that point but it was on Blue Note...., I remember being forcibly struck by Andrew Hill’s playing and thinking wow! That’s different, I want to hear more by this guy....
