Wow good for you Gheorghe! Something to be very proud of.

That's a pressing defect. It's underfill and when it looks like that, it's normally called stitching. It is almost always audible and usually results in a ripping sound as the needle traverses those damaged areas.
Thanks Kevin. I wish I had seen it right away. Normally I always check the records after buying but I remember I did not with this one…

They might be a pressing fault. Are they raised? If so might be worth very gently seeing if they're just something stuck on. I've had success removing such detritus a few times but it's not normally as much as I think I see in your photo.
I'm now playing 'The Angels of Atlanta' because you mentioned it elsewhere. What a great album
I did wash it one time. Maybe I should try that again. But I am afraid it’s in the grooves…
Thats a lovely album by Hannibal. The choir really ads something like it did with Max Roach records as well.
Now playing:

Probably my favorite Clark. Lovely Japanese issue but I forgot it has an issue on side A. Anyone around here knows what this is? If you take a close look you see small white spots on the vinyl. Unfortunately they are hearable as small glitches in the sound. They do ruin the listening a experience a little…

Once a much sought release (in it's scarce original form) .... stimulating music ....
It is but I must say I enjoy much of his other works better. I could live without the vocals on Hannibal's albums. I love to hear him live: Antibes, Berlin and Lausanne. The MPS is out of this world and I dig Angels of Atlanta as well.

I enjoyed some great times with Tootie over the years, in concerts with the three brothers, gigs at the Vanguard with Jimmy and Tootie and trio gigs at Smalls.
Around Tootie you had to be on your toes on and off the bandstand, or you might get run over. Acerbic like a MF, but big fun always.
THanks for sharing that Michael. Must have been a great experience playing with those greats!

It was the engineer's label and I believe only existed for that one release. He licensed/sold some of his tapes to the Springboard/Trip/UpFront imprint, which is how the record has been bootlegged all over the place.
Thanks Clifford for the info. So unfair to Tootie lots of those tried to sell it under Hancocks name for more money. Makes me think of Pete La Rocas Woman at a Turkish Bath sold under Chick Coreas name.

have a Japanese wlp of this same record. Beautiful album, features Mtume's first recorded compositions.
the Obé original is very hard to find. I've never even seen one in person.
No me neither. The Japanese Mercury I have sound pretty good though. Curious what the story is behind the Obe label

With Don Cherry, Jimmy Heath, Herbie Hancock, Buster Williams, Ed Blackwell and Mtume.
RIP Albert Tootie Heath-Kuumba

He was a great drummer. Albert, Percy and Jimmy what a musical family. May he rest in peace.

Absolutely spectacular music. I expect it to end up being the best release of 2024.
It’s very, very good indeed. I love the fact that the first part of the concert represents the more mellow and meditative Alice and the second part the wild, free and intense part of her character. I really hope they will do the Berkeley set as well!

Any Braxton completists here?

10… out of 39 musicians I actually know. Must say that, after looking up the names, I had 5 ‘damn how could I’ve missed him’ moments. I didn’t recognize Mingus 😵 conclusion: I suck in recognizing my jazz heroes

the group I saw live in Amsterdam. Fond memories 🥰

AFAIK of the 11 sets in the series, 5 have been released/shipped (#1, 2, 6, 8 & 11) so far (including the first one which is not part of the subscription series of 10 sets).
I'm in the same boat, waiting for the series to be completed before shipping
Allright thanks! The text on their website gives the feeling they could finish the series any moment now but there's plenty to release then. Their weird release schedule might offend the more neurotic buyer 😅Not in a hurry here but I was just wondering... Looking forward recieving all that music.

I really lost track of these now. I ordered and wanted them to ship them all at once. How many volumes are there yet to come now?

👍 me too! Saw Vijay Iyer live in Göttingen November 7, 2008: "Rudresh Mahanthappa Codebook feat. Vijay Iyer".
Great! Unfortunately he has no plans to visit NL would like to see this trio

amazing record. Sound quality is very good. There are some issues with it in track B but sounds like a tape issue. Great decision to release this concert.

not a big Jarrett fan but this was one I could appreciate. But listening to it now it annoys me as well. I put it off after 20 minutes. Probably blasphemy to some folks but it just doesn’t work out between Jarret and me.
This one I do like.

Oh dear I can’t believe I am reading this just now. That sad news. I loved his enthusiasm and the thumbs up he gave when I spun a certain record he liked. He will be missed. From the photos he looks like a very friendly guy. May he rest in peace
So, What Are You Listening To NOW?

Mal Waldron series I created myself. 12 volumes with something like 16 bootleg records. This one captures the ‘Seagulls’ group live in Switzerland.
