The band looks unamused. Pretty impressive recorder playing. Makes me wonder if I hadn’t given it up in the second grade where I could be

Sound is good. There is info that the rest of the series sounds better, this was the engineer Bruce Bidlack's first recording of the group. It is a bit muffled but nothing to complain about. Musically it is excellent. Instruments are panned to one side or the other. Well worth supporting this project in the hopes it leads t the release of the complete run.

My copy arrived today. Probably won’t get a chance to spin until Sunday maybe Monday.

I don´t see nothing adventurous in it. Those two albums "Love Call" and "N.Y. is Now" are like "Free Jazz for Starters", I mean what he did for Impulse! was much more advanced. Here there are a lot of swinging passages and he uses Elvin Jones and Jimmy Garrison, who were in Trane´s band before he went "free" (replacing Jones with Rashid Ali).
My favourite for all times here is "Garden of Souls" one of the most beautiful and moving compositions I ever heard.
I should have qualified that I find it adventurous for Blue Note. But I still find them enjoyable and if "Free Jazz for Starters" what it is, call me a starter. I have no doubt your ear is far more advanced than mine and I'm okay with that.

Ornette Coleman - New York Is Now!
I probably haven't listened to this in 7-8 years but I'm spinning the Round Trip and have to say though a bit uneven still very adventurous. The set is in stereo and feel this recording may benefit from mono.

Ornette Coleman - The Empty Foxhole
from the Round Trip box set I recently bought during the Blue Note Spring Cleaning Sale

Jeff Chan w/ Tatsu Aoki & Vijay Anderson - Perspectives
and
Francis Wong - Legends and Legacies II
a follow up to his 2004 release Legends & Legacies.

Francis Wong Trio w/ Tatsu Aoki & Chad Taylor - Early Abstractions
There is a deep and strong love for Francis and Jon Jang in my heart for creating AsianImprov. This release, though not on the label is stellar.

BRIAN is very elaborate. For just cataloging your collection, Steve Albin offers Beyond Category, a simpler database.
Where can I find more information on BRIAN?

Huh I’ve never had an issue. My order shipped the same day.

Was surprised to see the Lee Morgan Lighthouse and Ornette Coleman sets at 40% off.
I picked up the ornette since I only had New and Old Gospel already in an early cd issue.

Limited to 250 copies. Pre-order Here
This 2 disc set documents a legendary concert at the Immanuel United Church of Christ - November 26th, 1978. This is the first time that Nimbus founder Tom Albach had attempted to capture the Arkestra in their own environment and boy is it a doozy! About as raw and deep as it gets. Jesse Sharps here at the peak of his powers as Bandleader and Arranger, not to mention the playing, jeez.. this is a side of the Ark that has not been properly heard- until now…
disc 1
JUNGLE JUICE (30:50)
BALLAD FOR SAMUEL (21:29)
disc 2
LATELY’S SOLO (24:44)
IF YOU COULD SEE ME NOW (8:38)
TO THE GREAT HOUSE (21:49)
LIFT EVERY VOICE (1:58)
2CD SET in gatefold slipcase with notes by Tom Albach and Mark Weber -
this will be the first in a series of releases documenting the entirety of the I.U.C.C. recordings
looks like some vinyl is on sale as well.

Paul Dunmall 50 CD set. Although some is very good, I've never gotten through the whole thing. In addition the packaging was suspect from a storage point of view.
Whoa that's a huge set. Never knew about it until now but I actually could see myself buying that and then questioning why I did it. There have been many times where I have been on the verge of buying one of those large Ken Vandermark sets and not pulling the trigger. I like Vandermark but not that much and I know I would not devote the time to it I should. Same reason I have stayed away from the Braxton sets aside for the Charlie Parker one.

Trying out YT Music and it’s a very similar interface compared to Spotify. One advantage is that YT can access “videos” of songs and albums that technically haven’t been released on other platforms, but uploaded to YT via users. Pretty big advantage I have to say as you can find stuff Apple and Spotify will likely never have.
I could see that as an advantage over Apple Music but the fact that my library is uploaded to the cloud and accessible through Apple Music still makes it the best option for me

$40k for a buescher regardless of who’s played it is wild.

the Hoffman board had surpassed 1000 pages on this topic.
