  1. My setup is:

Receiver: McIntosh Mac4100 (Craigslist pick up to replace a Marantz 2238B i need to recap)

Turntable: Pioneer PL-55 (I picked this up in Albuquerque, NM from a thrift shop cheap because they were moving and cleaned/rebuilt it)

    Cartridge: Ortofon 2M Blue

    CD Player: Emotiva ERC-3

Tape Deck: Tascam 112B (picked up on Craigslist for $20 and rebuilt it)

also a Nakamichi RX-202 (sometimes you hit play and it doesn't move, turn it off and back on and its fine, I've taken it apart a couple times and can't figure out the issue)

    Speakers: Klipsch RB-81 Reference II

  2. The only music I've had to return in the last 10 years is the Super Deluxe of Sign O The Times. And that is the CD version. I'm not super picky though. I get the concept of the record should be new but I have to wash them anyway due to paper/static when I get them anyway. The Miles Davis UHQR issues sound legit, and kept me from buying it. Especially given the cost of it.

  3. I'm not sure what the defense is that he didn't do it. As far as sentencing I think the important thing is paying the restitution for the wasted resources. I think he is out on appeal now but I honestly didn't care enough to click past the headline/blurb. I had read this case is siimilar to the Pepino case where she claimed to be kidnapped, the thought is she'll plea out with paying restitution and maybe probation. I think Jussie was in a similar situation at one time with an Alfred plea, but he decided he wanted to fight it. This is all based on memory though and intrigue about the case because it was so bizarre.

Hmm.  As a fellow Braves fan, I have a different take.

The days of the Braves competing with clubs the Dodgers and Yankees in terms of spending are long gone.  We haven't been able to do that since Ted Turner sold the team.  I love Freeman, and I hate to see him go.  But if Freddie wants Yankees- or Dodgers-level money -- which is understandable; he deserves it -- then he's going to have to leave for one of those teams.

To be honest, I'm pleased Anthopoulos didn't sign Freddie for the huge money.   It would have tied the team's hands financially. ... I guess I trust Anthopoulos.  After all the masterful moves he's made over the last few years (and especially last year), I think he's earned it.

Now, it's time for the young guys like Ozzie Albies and Ronald Acuña to step up and lead the team.

    My 2 cents. ;)

As an A’s fan the lack of spending can be annoying. It ain’t my money I wish they’d spend money like the Yankees.

I definitely understand Braves fans’ attachment to Freddie Freeman—but at least you’re getting Matt Olson as a consolation prize.

    Yeah, it's really tremendous.

Still waiting for one of my long ago preorders with them to ship... kind of done with the preorder game if it's going to take this long.

Yeah I have the same feelings about pre-orders. I’ve been waiting for the Horace Tapscott - Tapscott + Winds I ordered at the beginning of the year and was supposed to ship January. I saw the new Jesse Sharp and the Wu Ensemble, ordered it and asked about my pre-order. Magically its shipping now but I’m irritated because it’s shipping with the Jesse Sharp and I paid separate shipping for each. Shady in my opinion.

What can you tell me about Bob  Reynolds.

Saxophone player. Debut was Can’t Wait For Perfect on Fresh Sounds. I first heard him on his A Live Life release which is fantastic. He used to play the Blue Whale a lot and plays the Baked Potato frequently. Had a YouTube channel that he hasn’t been as frequent on but is really informative. Just an overall great guy and excellent composer/saxophonist. He’s a purchase without hearing samples for me personally

  7. Chris Potter solo with them is insane. I'm only tangentially aware of them due to Bob Reynolds association with them. They don't offend me like they appear to so many others her but they don't get my dollars either. Good for them doing what they are doing though. The "live" record in the studio thing is interesting and I would like to check out artists I like doing that, but not them.

As I said previously, a gift from the owners to lock out when they did.

However, sans lock out, you telling me players wouldn't be out on strike right now, with that strike having started right before mandatory Spring Training report date? Then your pro-union mind is completely delusional.  I wish MLB had put out a statement that they are opening Spring Training camps and proceeding in anticipation of striking a deal before March 31 - then the players would have shown their true colors.

And you wouldn't put out self-righteous idiocy like "remember this is a lockout not a strike."

My intentions were never to make you this angry. My apologies. As I said previously I view workforce differently than product and you view them as the same thing. No need to attack me over differing views.

That’s good negotiating. If I start out at a high price, it’s now on the table. It’s a floor I can’t go below so I start out low knowing I have to go up at some point. I’m sure MLB has a number in mind. If I was negotiating a price for a product I would not start out at the number I wanted to get to but give myself wiggle room so that I could eventually agree to a number closer to where I wanted to end up all along.

that’s good negotiating depending on the side you’re on. There isn’t only one side of negotiating and if the other side is considered the “enemy” as the owners view the MLBPA then you start on the wrong foot to start. The problem is, in my opinion, the workforce should be viewed as a partner and not a product. Again, I’m pro-union so I find it offensive to be low balled, where you believe a low floor must be set. I view labor and product two vastly different needs, where it sounds like you view product and labor the same, thus negotiations are the same.

I used to negotiate contracts for a living and what you suggest is not negotiating. When someone offers .50 and you come back with 2.00 you’ve established your ceiling. If you go back the next day and say it’s not 2 but 3, that’s negotiating in bad faith. I’ve had that happen to me and it almost led to the collapse of the contract. Now, there’s nothing that says you can’t do that because until a contract is signed, theoretically you can ask for everything. However, don’t expect it to go over well.

Is low balling not bad faith then? Or is that just good negotiating? It all depends on the side of the negotiation you’re on.

    That was Reagan.

Somewhere will come eventually. But right now will not be it.

It's all big-dicks big-dicking. Why? Because they can.

Depending on the eventual outcome, it's either huge hubris or big balls. Put me down for hubris, and everybody gets the same big-dick sized piece of that pie.

    Correct.

I think the important thing is there was an expectation of a shorten season because they already know it can work because it’s been done. I think the biggest news has been the universal DH.

  12. I guess we have different views on negotiations. I think it is hard to be harsh when I don’t have any “skin in the game” so I can’t say they aren’t negotiating in good faith.

owners are opening their wallets? Why do you care if the owner spends money?

Nixon torpedoed the rights of laborers with the air traffic controllers and the mindset has taken hold across America that the rich should get richer at all costs.
