I seldom have anything to report here, but I found a vg+ Pacific Jazz 10" Chet Baker Sings at a book sale for $1 last Saturday.
-
The ONLY reason I'm selling is because they now duplicate my big box. I love this music.

Up, with price reductions.

Hi all
I recently scored the RCA Complete box, making these redundant:
Never No Lament (Blanton-Webster band, 3 cds)slip cover has a small tear where the flap folds in
Complete RCA Victor Mid-Fordies Recordings (1944-1946 3 cds) very good condition.
I would like to offer these for $32 each set,or both sets for $60, US postage included.
I can also offer, postage included:
Solos, Duets & Trios $8
Small Groups (Indispensable) 2-cds Frence RCA $8
The Popular Duke Ellington $5
Ko-Ko (Dreyfus collection of Blanton-Webster) $7
paypal or your check acceptable as payment.
Other countries pay actual postage.
Send me a pm if anything interests you

I've tried out two or three different ones in the past. The setups feel different - the strings were at a much lower tension. Also, there was significantly longer sustain. I never found one that I really liked, but i was on a budget and did not audition any of the high-end makes.
I heard David Freisen play one a few years ago in a duet with a guitarist and he was brilliant. He also plays his while seated. He achieves a sound very much like that of an acoustic bass.

Hello all
I need to clear some shelf space so I'm listing some titles for sale. I'm not going to note specific defects, these are all in nice playable shape, mostly vg+. Priced at $2.00 each, doubles for $4.00,(with a few exceptions as noted) plus actual postage. I'll use recycled mailers, so no charge for packaging. I can take paypal or you can mail me a check, your choice. Send me a pm if you want anything.
Thanks for looking
Pete

"The musical number and their succession on this CD strictly follow the only known live recording of the show, as it was performed on the 25th of August 1963. This recording was found on a casette tape in Mercer Ellington's collection. The sound quality of the tape is very poor...the tape is invaluable to document how the show was performed. All numbers on the tape except two were also recorded in the studio during the three recording sessions in Chicago August 1963 the 20th, the 21st, and the 27th, so it has been possible to recreate the (almost) complete performance in great sound quality."

Ya'll are too kind. Thanks!

Jeeves & Wooster: The Complete Series - $17.67
This is a very amusing set. These are nice adaptations of P.G. Wodehouse stories.
A completely different character for Hugh Laurie - to me, at least, much more entertaining than the surly Dr. House.
-
Laurel & Hardy: The Essential Collection
"Bargain" is in the eye of the beholder here but this 10-disc set containing the sound films made for Hal Roach is currently going for $50 and change (delivered) from Amazon which amounts to $5.00 per disc. I've got one on the way.
Laurel & Hardy: The Essential Collection
This is a beautiful set, well conceived and nicely done. I've had it for a while now. I've made my way through the first six discs and it has been a joy and a pleasure.
Now the studio should do the same treatment for their silent films.

[Dang, that's cold! But, you've decided for me. Cognac it is. I readily admit to enjoying cognac, but knowing very little about it. Any suggestions for a mid-price selection? (Is there such a thing as budget cognac?)
Buy VSOP (very special old pale) of any brand if you can afford it. They're all good. If VSOPis too dear, I prefer Martell VSP.
No such thing a budget cognac. In this case you get what you pay for.

Please post it here. I'm sure many of us would be interested.

in Offering and Looking For...
Posted · Edited by Pete B
UPDATE 12/6
In an effort to clear more space, I'll increase the discount offered. 5-10 lps deduct 15%, More than 10 deduct 20%
Thanks, Pete
I have the urge to downsize my collection. I am offering the following lps for $3 each, $5 for doubles. I am also listing the remnants of last August's $2 lp sale at the bottom. These lps are in nice condition, VG+ for the most part. There may be cutouts, holes drilled, writing, etc. If that matters, ask me ahead of time.
I will offer a 10% discount on 5-10 titles (both lists) and a 15% for more than 10 titles. You pay actual postage (and insurance if you want it). I will take paypal or your check. Send me a pm if interested - first come, first served, of course.
Thanks for looking
Pete
