I have a number of recordings with Benny Golson on it and he never solos on any of them. Whisper Not would be second. tooter Posted October 17, 2004 Report Share Posted October 17, 2004 Seems to me that "Whisper Not" didn't have to be written at all, it was just plucked out the air where it had always existed - it sounds so natural somehow. Level pegging now between IRC and WN. Lots of other good tunes on his list though - "Five Spot After Dark", for instance, not mentioned yet? You gotta love the hipness of that vamp. And the bridge ain't too shabby either. I love the Toots Thielemans version from East Coast, West Coast as well as the original.
