Jazzmoose
C'mon, it seems like 90% of the CDs I buy have this guy on piano, and they claim it's too difficult to clone human beings? I ain't buying it!
Dan Gould
I don't know about you, Moose, but personally, having 'Grew on a disc is pretty close to a Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval.
DrJ
The head angle and pose are strikingly similar, but the resemblance DEFINITELY ends there... Edited August 2, 2003 by DrJ
Jazzmoose
I definitely agree, Dan, no doubt about it. It just amazes me how often he seems to be in the studio. I can understand his being in demand, he's fantastic, but he must have to take a day off once in a while!

RonF
Anyone heard his new "Live at Yoshi's" disc on MaxJazz?? I've heard 3 cuts on the radio and it smokes! You're right about the smoke, sal. It's hot....all the way through. I heard Mulgrew at the VV about 4 years ago with a Lewis Nash Septet (including Regina Carter and Steve Nelson) Mulgrew is damn good. I know what Moose is saying, he's everywhere...even this year! But all understandable.

cannonball-addict
I think he's not amazing....just really solid. The new jazz piano whore is Bill Charlap....Look over at a calendar for jazz happening in NY. The guy is playing everywhere with everyone. He must have some serious agent on his side! B-) I did and I really enjoyed it. I saw Miller more than 10 years ago when he came to play in the red sea jazz festival together with Benny Golson. It was a memorable concert. James
I'm going to hear Mulgrew live at The Jazz Bakery in L.A. tomorrow night in duo with Steve Nelson - and with any luck will be able to pick up his Live at Yoshi's disc from the man himself. Can't wait! Grabbed his debut release (Keys to the City) the moment is was issued on CD. Wonder if this one is still available.
John L
I sure wish that Mulgrew was on 90% of the CDs I own.
