Guest Chaney Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 (edited) Sam Rivers Jackie McLean Larry Young I'm not the seller. Read the descriptions carefully as it's not always clear if the box, etc. is included. Edited September 10, 2003 by Chaney Quote
Ed S Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 I'll say they're cheap. There's a Live Basie as well Live Basie Same disclaimers apply Quote
Guest Chaney Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 I'm wondering if more are on the way as that Basie set wasn't there a moment ago. Thankfully (?), I'm broke. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Now that some cheap *$#@! has bid on the Sam Rivers that I would have gladly bought at a decent "Buy it Now" price in a heartbeat, does anyone remember what the Buy it Now price was so I can feel even worse? Quote
vajerzy Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 What was the BIN for the Larry Young?? Always wanted this one..... Quote
king ubu Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 I'm wondering if more are on the way as that Basie set wasn't there a moment ago. Thankfully (?), I'm broke. I'm with you... and we got to save for the Lyons box anyway... (and at least, I got the Basie live, but if anyone had a *cheap* spare copy of the studio set...) ubu Quote
Guest Chaney Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Hate to tell you but the buy-it-now price on the Rivers was $50. The Larry Young buy-it-now price was $200. Can you believe these, errrr, people-exhibiting-not-very-wise-behavior, wouldn't just buy them outright? Quote

Gotta have your priorities straight. Quote
Brad Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 I emailed the seller and he says it includes everything and it's going so cheaply because he needs the money. If I didn't have them, I'd bite. Quote
Brad Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Somebody has put in bids for these. I recall he had a buy it now for $200 for the Basie. Too me, that's dumb. $200 is a great price for that set. He's also just put a couple of Davis sets (not Mosaic), In a Silent Way and Bitches Brew. Quote
Guest Chaney Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Actually, I believe the BIN price on the Young was $175. Quote
sthomas Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 It's even worse. The Young was $150. Quote
Daniel A Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Hate to tell you but the buy-it-now price on the Rivers was $50. The deal wasn't that terrific. The buy-it-now price for the Rivers was $100, rather than $50. Quote
RDK Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 The "Buy it Now" on the Jackie McLean was only $75! Someone here did good! Quote

The buy-it-now price for the Rivers was $100, rather than $50. I asked the seller what was the buy it now price on the Rivers set and received this rather sad reply: Honestly I don't recall, just made it up... probably $80.-$100. Didn't do any research, too painful:+{ I just need the money otherwise these box sets would be going nowhere. Kim I, of course, could very well be wrong. Edited September 8, 2003 by Chaney Quote
vajerzy Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Ah wel........maybe next time...... The seller will probably do well with the ones that have bids- just have to wait a little while longer..... Quote
Guest Chaney Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 The Giuffre set is now up with a BIN price of $200. Looks like Kim has gotten more bold. Giuffre Quote
Jazzmoose Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 If the Rivers BIN was $100, okay, but if it was $50 and the bozo bid $40, I'm pissed... Well, maybe "disappointed" would be a better word. Quote
sthomas Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 The Rivers BIN was definitely $100. I spent a couple of minutes thinking about all these sets, before deciding on the McLean. Many thanks to Chaney for pointing them out! Quote
BERIGAN Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 If he/she is so sad to see them go, then why do most of the sets say, like new, never played??? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=2557035222 Quote
BERIGAN Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 If you want to see what some have sold for, and what is still up.... http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcI...&sort=3&rows=25 Quote
Jazzmoose Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 If he/she is so sad to see them go, then why do most of the sets say, like new, never played??? Berigan, you're not actually listening to these sets are you? Don't you know that you're supposed to immediately encase each on in half inch thick mylar cases and replace the air with nitrogen to ensure proper storage conditions? These are collectables, not records or CDs! Quote
Ed S Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 The Rivers BIN was definitely $100. I spent a couple of minutes thinking about all these sets, before deciding on the McLean. Many thanks to Chaney for pointing them out! Congratulations on a great deal. Nice to see when a board members scores one of these deals. Quote
Guest Chaney Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 Yep. What Ed said. Congrats sthomas! Quote
