Gheorghe Posted June 5, 2020 Report Posted June 5, 2020 Two albums of the 70ยดs with Oscar Peterson involved. Eddie Lockjaw Davis is one of my favourites, he is so unique. I saw him live on several occasions. The "In tune" album with the Singers Unlimited sold very well, Many people during that time listened to them, great music, great vocal arrangement and fine contributions by Peterson.ย Quote

Especially as heard on this LP: ย ย ย NP: Just the download, for now.ย ย Haven't received the CD yet. ย Edited June 5, 2020 by HutchFan Quote

JSngry Posted June 6, 2020 Author Report Posted June 6, 2020 That recording "date" info is so jacked up! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groovin%27_High_(Booker_Ervin_album) "Stella by Starlight" was recorded on December 3, 1963, during the same session as The Freedom Book, which also includes this track.[1] "Groovin' High" was recorded on June 30, 1964, during the same session as The Blues Book, which does not include this track. "The Second #2" and "Bass-IX" were recorded on October 2, 1964, along with tracks that appeared on The Space Book.[1] "The Second #2" is an alternate take of "Number Two" from The Space Book, while "Bass-IX" does not appear on that album. ย Quote
Pim Posted June 6, 2020 Report Posted June 6, 2020 (edited) Seems like a very appropriate playlist for this coming week! ย ย Edited June 6, 2020 by Pim Quote
JSngry Posted June 6, 2020 Author Report Posted June 6, 2020 String arranger Jeremy Lubbock is an unfamiliar name to me, but looking at his credits I can see that he's quite accomplished. His charts here aretexturally lush and harmonically provocative. My kinda thing for that kind of thing. ย Quote
