Perhaps it was an off night. I was, however, impressed to learn that the woman with the kids on the front row was Charlie Parker's widow. I have since read her autobiography but, as a youngster, I didn't have the facts at my fingertips as I do now. Quote

But I think they made some impressive recordings -- including the one I posted above.   2 hours ago, Peter Friedman said: An excellent record, IMO.  Quote
HutchFan Posted September 5, 2020 Report Posted September 5, 2020 Delightfully uncategorize-able music. Anyone who enjoys Airto's music should hear Opa. His fingerprints are all over these records. Quote

Justin V Posted September 6, 2020 Report Posted September 6, 2020 (edited) Howard Johnson and Gravity - Testimony: I ordered the download (lossless through Bandcamp) from Howard Johnson's site for $5.99. I need to hear his Pharoah Sanders tribute, as I really like Johnson on bari as well. Gheorghe Posted September 6, 2020 Report Posted September 6, 2020 What a wealth of music was there in the 60´s at Blue Note recording studios. Here´s two of my favourites. The one with McCoy Tyner is fantastic, with a dream team with Bobby Hutcherson and a fantastic rhythm section. And "Speak No Evil" speaks for itself. Quote
