That particular benediction -- and box score -- is new to me.

Buddy Terry - Pure Dynamite (Mainstream, 1972)

This is really, really good. ... Not surprising, perhaps, given the ridunkulous line-up of young up-and-comers supporting Terry.  Eddie Henderson, Woody Shaw, Kenny Barron, Joanne Brackeen, Buster Williams, Stanley Clarke, Billy Hart, Lenny White, Airto Moreira, and Mtume.  In other words, a Seventies dream band.

I was not!!! I have ordered it from his site. Thanks for the heads up! I also ordered Michael Cochrane with Lines if Reason - MC2001 on the off chance Mr. Gross is on it too!

Here's another Cochrane/Gross collaboration:

And cheap copies to be had from US sellers on discogs too ..

This is an interesting album and our jazz journalist friend C J assures me Ms Alexa is as beautiful inside as out. Which is a lot. This is the second of her albums I have.

I finished the Kenny Barron album and decided to go with another Philly great.

Funnily enough, I once saw Ray Bryant with guests sat in front of me in the audience at a Toronto Club. I think it was the ‘Top O’ The Senator’ - can’t recall who was playing.

Nice!  For as prolifically as Bryant recorded and worked with everyone, it feels like he is overlooked.

Having listened to McCoy's Soliloquy and Coltrane with Dameron on Mating Call, today's Philly celebration continues with this:
