jazzbo Posted January 7, 2021 Report Posted January 7, 2021 Kurt Elling "Man in the Air" Blue Note cd. This one scratches two itches for me: one to hear Mr. Elling, one to hear Mr. Harris. "Resolution" is a masterwork. This is an album where the arrangements, performances and engineering blend so well. Quote

Glad they did. It's very good. Ordered. Love Tootie & Knuffke. I presume the other players are also good. Quote
jazzbo Posted January 7, 2021 Report Posted January 7, 2021 Yes, I think you'll like it and enjoy their work. The only real downside to this is that it's short! Quote
HutchFan Posted January 7, 2021 Report Posted January 7, 2021 (edited) This was such a fantastic band. But I gotta say that I whenever I listen to this particular record I am completely captivated by the sound of George Adams' saxophone. Not what he plays or how he plays, exactly. Just the sound. Like he could play one note, and it would be fascinating -- because there's so much happening in that one note, so many smells and textures and feelings. Edited January 7, 2021 by HutchFan Quote
