I prefer the BN Works.  It sounds more lively.  The Tone Poet is good but it's not the best in the series.

RE: Tone Poet LPs... With more & more listening, I've switched my opinion on that.... I used to think that these Tone Poets were giving us this great music in the best sound ever. But then I got a few "duds" and realized that those old CDs sound pretty damn good. In fact, I bet if you EQ'ed the CD version and boosted the bass, you'd probably find yourself wondering if that's all they did with these LPs.

A "with strings" record, without nearly enough trombone, but still. What a great record. I only discovered Teagarden last year and already find it hard to imagine living without his cracked vocals.

The Stick Up Tone Poet sounds a tad dull and similar to the Connoisseur CD from 1997.  I just assumed that was how it was recorded.  I got the BN Works version a couple of weeks ago and it sounds the best to me.  Could just be that it works best with my system.

Which ones did you think were bad. I haven’t purchased any in a long time because I didn’t see the point of replicating what I have in cd.
