Playing this one again. When I first switched over from a Simmons drum kit to a Sonor kit in the last band I was in I played and tried to practice to “God Bless the Child” on cassette over and over. . . taught me a little somethin’ somethin’. . . .

I stopped in Half Price Books for the first time in years and found this.  For as much as I love the Detroit pianists and Barry Harris, this is only my second leader date of his.  As is to be expected from Harris and the Maybeck series, it is excellent.

I think Barry Harris was the next thing to Bud Powell. I don´t have records with him as a leader, but many where he is a sideman.

My philosophy of life, which underpins all my decisions and interactions, with animals, the natural world, and other humans, is that Herbie Mann records are all either really really bad or really really good. I like this one.

A brilliant insight into the true & universal nature of reality, I'd say.  :P

Well if you're familliar with the Dreher live set and you like it, this one is highly recommended!

I second that opinion!  :tup

This is bebop piano masterclass. IMO

Bob Thiele And His New Happy Times Orchestra / Gabor Szabo With The California Dreamers And Tom Scott & Bill Plummer – Light My Fire

I always assumed that this would not be worth investigating, but it's actually pretty enjoyable.

Tom Scott is a player who I never got. Did record company execs reckon he'd be the next Charles Lloyd?
