Also, Pickford is one of the best keepers I've ever seen on the goal line.  I'm just referring to his awesome saves on the line, not him being an amazing universal keeper overall.

He's also a butcher who should have gotten a deep red card and a lengthy ban for what he did to Virgil van Dijk last season.

There is a big difference between “it is possible that” and “almost certain”

If you only consume and believe the mainstream media, you wouldn't have taken the possibility seriously until perhaps very recently. The narrative is being aggressively controlled. Knowledgeable people (on the left) were/are being put away as cranks or right wingers and 'white supremacists'.

    Sleep tight.

When you say it's too loud... what exactly do you mean? Is there distortion? Out of balance? Do you know if the 2006 Standards Brussels box is too loud?

The volume levels are too high. I can't even put the volume knob up to 9 o' clock without annoying peaks in the sound bothering me. For the Sextet (Parker) 1993 CD box set I could comfortably turn the volume up to 10 o' clock.

    I don't enjoy listening at a whisper.

As I said, the recording itself is fine. If you didn't buy the FLACs & physical set yet, just stream for free at Bandcamp and then compare to Sextet (Parker) 1993. Bandcamp streaming volume levels are generally a good indicator of relative volume levels of the corresponding physical CDs in my experience.

I believe the 2006 Brussels set was recorded before a very noisy audience, so I didn't buy it, haven't heard it. Also, it wasn't on Leo Records.

  4. As I first noticed when listening to the Bandcamp stream and has now been confirmed by the official FLACs, while the box set was well-recorded, the mastering is too loud. Not good imo. I'll probably be putting the still sealed physical box set up for sale on Discogs or eBay once it arrives in late August/early September. (Or here if anyone is interested.)

There was a similar issue with the third Leo Records standards box, 19 Standards (Quartet) 2003, released 2010, which was significantly louder than the first two box sets from the 2003 tour released in 2004 & 2005.

Also, I had contact with Jazz Messengers. It is doubtful they'll be able to get the box set in stock.

    "Good afternoon,

    Thanks for your message.

Hopefully we will. I mean, we are doing everything we can to get it, but, we truly don’t know if we are going to, sorry! According to his Band Camp is already sold out, but, it might be available through any of our suppliers.

If we have any luck bringing it, we will announce it for sure!

    All the best,

There’s an interesting interview with Ravi Coltrane in the new Mojo where he talks about this release and also that there are tons more recordings still in the archive and the next thing to come out this autumn is another John Coltrane Quartet live album recorded in 1965 the same week as Live in Seattle!

Issue 333 with Amy Whinehouse on the cover?
