this is a very good album, easy exceeding expectations
I agree, found it in a Dollor bin about ten years ago in flawless condition

thank you for all the birthday wishes. I have been so busy I have not been able to keep up with the site or even have time to listen to the music we all love. (still haven't even finished the Armstrong mosaic). things are calming down and I am slowly gaining the free time I need to pursue the music. I hope all is well with everyone here. eagerly awaiting that JC Temple release!

Finally listened to this last night. Well done with some interesting touches. I could not help but feel it was missing something and then it struck me--I think a version that incorporated the B3 would be Brilliant!--but since the Bad have done it already perhaps a Funked up version of Russian Dance from Pétrouchka

Today we sent off the masters for production on Ira Sullivan's "Circumstantial" and the Hal Russell NRG Ensemble + Charles Tyler recordings. The Sullivan disc will include a wonderful 10 minute blues bonus and the Russell has 2 bonus tracks to complete the program started with the previous NRG cd.
For future release we are working on a concert recording of the Bobby Bradford / Frode Gjerstad Quartet
with Ingebrigt Håker Flaten and Frank Rosaly. It sounds wonderful to us! They recorded a few concerts and we have chosen the Baltimore concert for issue.
Looking forward to all of these!

The mail carrier endeavored to complete his rounds through the cobblestoned streets. Fast and Furious was he, like Lightnin’, until he ran over Ducky Wucky. A few too many Jazz Cocktails may have been the problem. The Eerie Moan of Ducky Wucky’s demise haunted him for many years. It is the Saddest Tale in all of Mosaic delivery lore.
Ok, Back to the Music

Thanks for the heads up Chris. I think Queen is an excellent choice. Looking forward to this production. Just ordered the book and will squeeze it into my reading queue.

I never had the pleasure of seeing Mr Wilder. Thank you for the anecdote Mark. RIP and thank you for the music.

My old friend Marty Khan has assured me all is legit with this package. Go for it.
Thanks Chuck. I try my best to avoid the thieves.

Book looks fascinating.
I have to agree. May not be to everyones liking but life is messy that way. I will pick this up soon and hopefully get to read it by the end of the year.
Enjoyed Arts' music and still do.

I have the day off today and both my kids are taking a nap so I just knocked out this blog with links to all my previous writings on the Mosaic set and as a bonus, inspired by TedR, a little audio edit so you can compare how Newport 1956 sounded when all we had were the Columbia reels and how it sounds now after Andreas Meyer spliced the Voice of America vocals into them. Enjoy!

Thanks for the info and for all of the careful work you and Mosaic are putting into this release. I'm ashamed to say that I usually just enjoy Mosaics when I listen to them and don't even think about all of the work that led to their existence.
Yep, sometimes I also forget what a wonderful time we live in as far as obtaining, collecting etc and having a company like Mosaic is a blessing for junkies like myself. Thanks for the update and post Ricko

Don't know why I waited so long on this set. 3112 just landed. Will be a Dizzy weekend!

Hi all and Happy New Year! I've been deep in Mosaic land for the past few weeks and am happy to report that the Armstrong box is just about there and is probably heading for a late-February/early-March release. Here's the latest news from my blog....enjoy!

I always have difficulty with top ten, best ever etc. One day I may prefer one performance or recording and another day I would prefer a different one. So I will weigh in with my most recent listening and say Benny Golson Au Club St Germain. ( I am already running through other recording in my head, wait, its Shorter on The Freedom Rider, no Its Gllmore on 'S Make it, no its ...

CD2. Schmokin !
I got this recently too and it significantly exceeded expectations. I'm not sure how I missed this one before but if you're on the fence it's excellent advanced harp bop.
