  1. I was in half-price books yesterday. I rarely find anything special. This was different.
    I found an original pressing of Fantastic Frank Strozier, his first leader date (Veejay)

    w/ Booker Little, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb. In very good condition. A steal @ $9.95


  2. Do BYG records have a reputation for skipping? I have two Grachan Moncur III LPs on the label. With a naked eye the vinyl looks impeccable. And the records aren't warped at all.

    Yet they will not play without skipping. 

    Frustrating to say the least.


  3. I was in a Dallas area Half-Price Book store awhile back, browsing their LPs. 

    There I spotted Lou Donaldson's Mr Shing-a-Ling Blue Note. Deep groove, rvg stamped. $3.49

    Listening to it now.

    I confess, I am late coming around to Lou Donaldson. I don't know why it took so long for me to appreciate him. Better late than never!
