Shrdlu Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 Was in a club recently and suddenly a house track morphed into a Fox Trot with Peggy Lee singing "Why Don't You Do Right?". Then, back to the house feel. It gave me quite a shock. I did a Google and it turns out that a Serbian dude called Gramophonedzei has done a remix of the recording that Peggy did with the Benny Goodman orchestra (1942, I think). It's a very imaginative remix. Check it out. It goes down sensationally with the young 'uns. The same guy has also remixed the title track from Donald Byrd's "Street Lady" album. I have often thought of mixing in Fats Waller's version of Christopher Columbus (from 1936) when I'm DJing house. The beat is just about the same. I think it would go down well. I did do my own remix of a Gary McFarland track. Quote
