  1. I'm back with another huge rare groove list including lots of tough to find jazz titles. Highlights include Joyce Cooling - Cameo. As usual everything starts cheap at $3.99 with no reserves. Check 'em out:

  2. I've got a huge list of jazz up right now on eBay. Hundreds of titles on Blue Note, Impulse, Prestige, Riverside, Bethlehem, Contemporary, Fantasy and others. A lot of these are in the VG to VG+ range but play well after a good scrubbing on the VPI. Here's a link:

  3. I've got a big batch of 1950's and 60's jazz LP's up this week. Lots of tough to find titles on Blue Note, Prestige, Impulse, Riverside, Contemporary, Bethlehem, Savoy, etc. A lot of these are in the VG to VG+ but play nicely after a good cleaning on the VPI. As usual everything starts cheap at $5 with no reserves. Check 'em out:

  4. I've got a big batch of 1950's and 60's jazz up right now. Well over 200 LP's with lots of tough to find titles on Blue Note, Impulse, Prestige, Riverside, Norgran, Clef, Contemporary, Atlantic, Bethlehem, etc. A lot of these records are in the VG to VG+ range but sound great after getting cleaned on the VPI.

  5. I've just finished putting up a huge list of jazz LP's. Lots of hard to find original titles on Blue Note, Impulse, Riverside, Prestige, Contemporary, Bethlehem, Savoy, Pacific Jazz, etc. Many of these records are in the VG to VG+ range but play well now that they've been cleaned on the VPI. Here's the link:

  6. Hey, thanks for the extra hype MG! I usually write little descriptions for most of the LP's I put up, but didn't have time this round, so the recommendations are much appreciated!

For my two cents, I've been really digging that Don Cherry - Brown Rice LP. Great all the way through and usually pretty affordable. The spacey, kind of mystical dancefloor groove on the title track is worth the price alone.

The Art Fletcher - Solomon Grundy's Sunday is really great too. Really mellow, soulful record on a tiny local label that seems to still be floating under the radar.

Bobby Hutcherson - Now looks like it might go for cheap too. I love Eugene McDaniels' vocals on that one!

  7. I've got a David Friedman - Futures Passed LP on Inner City with a purple label that was that was licensed by Enja. Never occurred to me there was any intentional color-coordinating going on according to the corresponding European label. I'll have to keep an eye out for this!

  8. Count me in as another VPI 16.5 satisfied customer. I've only had it a couple of months but it's definitely done wonders for all the VG and grimy things I've pulled out of the $1 bin. It's expensive but my understanding is that it should last 20+ years so it'll pay for itself many times over.

About the noise: Yeah, it basically sounds like a vacuum cleaner. I don't mind it too bad, but my girlfriend HATES it. She is a certified cat person though, and I am thinking there's a correlation there somewhere with small pets being afraid of vacuum cleaners.

  9. I'm a HUGE Curtis fan. The self-titled in yellow suit LP is probably my favorite album of all time.

As far as the blaxploitation films, it's been nice taking the plunge recently with Direct TV and all the movie channels. Black Caesar was on the other night and it reminded me how great the soundtrack is. James Brown is kiling it both with obvious funky soul shouters and the slow tear jerking emotional cuts. That man could do no wrong in the early 70's!
