  1. Assuming you mean the Live Trane box set, co-author Dave Wild summarized it here: http://www.wildmusic-jazz.com/livetrane.htm I'm one of the people who originally wrote to Pablo, back in the day, since I had a complete copy of the Birdland tape that they misattribute to Hamburg. I asked them what Symphony Sid and Pee Wee Marquette were doing in Hamburg pretending to do a Birdland broadcast from a German city. Even offered to send them a copy of the tape. They never replied. --Chris DeVito --- Jazz: THE JOHN COLTRANE REFERENCE (Routledge, 2008) Available from the Routledge website and Amazon (hardcover and paperback; e-book coming in Spring 2013) COLTRANE ON COLTRANE: THE JOHN COLTRANE INTERVIEWS (Chicago Review Press, 2010) Available from Amazon and better bookstores everywhere (hardcover & paperback; Japanese & Italian editions, too!) --- Speculative fiction: "Notespinning," Pulphouse, June 1992; Song Story Vol. 1 (forthcoming in 2013) "Anise," Fantasy & Science Fiction, Sept./Oct. 2011 (now online at http://bestsf.net/chris-devito-anise/) "Alive She Cried," in Love That Never Dies: Erotic Encounters with the Undead (e-book, 2012; ed. by M. Christian) "Final Kill," in Lonely Souls (edited by Gordon Van Gelder; e-book forthcoming in 2013) ----------
  2. There will also be an electronic version, though I'm not sure about the format, the exact release date, or the price. The publisher says their e-books usually come out a couple of months after the paperback. --Chris DeVito --- Jazz: THE JOHN COLTRANE REFERENCE (Routledge, 2008) Available from the Routledge website and Amazon (hardcover and paperback; e-book coming in Spring 2013) COLTRANE ON COLTRANE: THE JOHN COLTRANE INTERVIEWS (Chicago Review Press, 2010) Available from Amazon and better bookstores everywhere (hardcover & paperback; Japanese & Italian editions, too!) --- Speculative fiction: "Notespinning," Pulphouse, June 1992; Song Story Vol. 1 (forthcoming in 2013) "Anise," Fantasy & Science Fiction, Sept./Oct. 2011 (now online at http://bestsf.net/chris-devito-anise/) "Alive She Cried," in Love That Never Dies: Erotic Encounters with the Undead (e-book, 2012; ed. by M. 3. The John Coltrane Reference is now in paperback, for about a third the cost of the hardcover. You can order it from the usual behemoth: http://www.amazon.com/John-Coltrane-Reference-NIP/dp/0415634636/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1350544038&sr=1-2&keywords=the+john+coltrane+reference (Full disclosure: I'm one of the authors.) 4. The photo is included in Coltrane on Coltrane, with the kind permission of Antonia Andrews (Trane's stepdaughter, aka "Syeeda"). It was taken outside Trane's home in Queens ca. 1961. --Chris DeVito
  5. Glad you enjoyed the Coltrane Reference. I think you'll find that Coltrane on Coltrane is a much quicker read! --Chris DeVito
  6. I edited Coltrane on Coltrane: The John Coltrane Interviews (published last year by Chicago Review Press), and I'd be interested in hearing people's reactions to/opinions of the book. --Chris DeVito
  7. I'm the editor of Coltrane on Coltrane, and I'd be very interested in reading more reactions to/opinions of the book. --Chris DeVito COLTRANE ON COLTRANE: THE JOHN COLTRANE INTERVIEWS www.amazon.com; better bookstores everywhere THE JOHN COLTRANE REFERENCE www.amazon.com; www.routledge.com - - - - -
