There are over 200 pages of scholarly articles available absolutely free online -- printable pdfs too. http://mq.oxfordjournals.org/content/current Also, the International Association of Jazz Collectors (IAJRC) has an excellent stereo CD on their own label of the Ellington Orchestra at the 1956 Connecticut Jazz Festival. The band is in fine form just a few weeks after Newport. It is available at the unbelievable price of $6.00 which includes shipping! It seems they are trying to get rid of their inventory. They will sell to non-members. There are other CDs available at that price (as well as a variety of books, some very rare).
