Two questions:
Does the current Finest 1100 edition of Point of Departure (UCCQ 9168) sound noticeably better that the McMaster edition (CDP 7 84167 2, which I quite like)?
Does the current Finest 1100 edition of Unit Structures (UCCQ 9193) sound noticeably better than the McMaster edition (CDP 7 84237 2, which I have never found satisfactory)?
Any advice on this would be much appreciated.

The Japanese text of CD Japan's product description for UCCQ 9168 (the current Finest 1100 reissue of Point of Departure) includes the number 4167 in parentheses. Is that a clue to the mastering details?

Many thanks for the list of titles with 2011 remastering. It looks as if I need to invest in some upgrades. Fortunately I have all the other Coltranes as GRPs rather than Originals, so at least the liner notes have been useful (and in a few cases I am quite happy with the GRP sound).

Does anyone know how the sound on this Japanese reissue of 'Cosmic Music' compares with the sound on the most recent US reissue (in the Coltrane 'Originals' series)?

I really like 'Our Point of View', which I bought on LP when it first came out. It's a shame that Frank Ricotti added an extra sleevenote for the CD reissue saying how much he now dislikes his own playing on the album.
