  1. Finally received the Brubeck box today- 19 discs, sealed, original factory CDs for $8 ... "They are real, and they are spectacular!"

Needless to say, it fell off the back of a truck.

No, it seems there was something more going on here. The fact that they dropped prices massively on most of their stock for two brief windows, filled many of the early orders and then subsequently cancelled huge numbers of orders seems to indicate a computer glitch or some sort of issue. Until all this happened they were a good storefront and had a great reputation (over 99 percent positive w/ a huge number of transactions). It seems more like a fortunate buyer fluke ... despite all the new to cd material, especially since I had well over half the titles, I was not otherwise going to pick this one up.

  2. It appears to me that the glitch was for items listed as $1.00.

I had jumped into the fire in a big way. After the Brubeck supposedly shipped, they subsequently cancelled six other orders, containing nearly 80 titles, ranging in price from $1 to $22. Not one item was confirmed. Will be interesting to see what arrives in that Amazon box where the Brubeck is to be. BTW - they did list it as "new and manufacturer sealed." Then again, they also showed all the cancelled titles as "in-stock."

  3. He certainly seems to be a polarizing force ... as it often seems with anyone with a strong opinion or creative point of view. (Monk, Trane, Ayler, Cecil) As can be seen here, a great many don't seem to enjoy his work, while others believe it is the work of genius. As you will note below, I tend toward the later.

My wife and I have enjoyed his work immensely and been most fortunate to have been living in NYC in the past six+ years and seen: the Lincoln Center staging of Passion and the Broadway revival productions of Assassins, Pacific Overtures, Sweeney Todd, Company, Sunday in the Park with George, A Little Night Music, along with Gypsy and West Side Story.

Musically, the only things I have enjoyed anywhere nearly as much in that time were Spring Awakening and Light in the Piazza.

There certainly was a greater simplicity to many earlier lyricists' work. Much was even nonsensical. I am looking forward toward reading the book. Having heard him speak on such topics, I wonder if that was the point of reference. He seems to take great pride on his construction of real intelligent dialog - words within his music.

  4. Hi everyone,

I'm going to close out my solicitation to sell cds on here. I had a deal go bad and it is leaving a very sour taste in my mouth. I was able to sell all my Mosaic boxes which was the original purpose. To all of those who bought from me, thank you. I know I delivered a good product and service.

    Lou

Sorry to hear that Lou. Very discouraging.
