Guest akanalog Posted September 1, 2004 Report Posted September 1, 2004 i am listening to a horrendous sound quality performance of a 1975 mahavishnu orchestra show- this is suprisingly a quartet outing with just the leader, stu goldberg on keys, ralphe armstrong on bass and n m walden on drums. i actually really like the nothingness and eternity album, but this live set i am listening to is great. it gets prettty funky at times and in general the music has less of a hectic groove than earlier live mo i have heard. it is easier to enjoy the songwriting of mclaughlin at this slower pace and the tunes (don't know the names) are nice. but i am enjoying the interactions, the dynamics, the sounds and the tempo changes of this band a lot more than the classic mo group (walden was a killer drummer IMO for the year or two before he got cheesy). anyone got any live bootlegs of this group or anything? any idea what else to investigate? Michael Fitzgerald Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 The is the Inner Worlds band. Tunes could be from that album. It was out on CD as part of the Columbia Contemporary Masterpiece or whatever the series was called with the red border. Haven't listened to the album in a while, but I recall a version (the first?) of Lotus Feet, and also a vocal tune with a nice 12-string solo. Mike Quote
