Craig23 Posted October 3, 2004 Report Posted October 3, 2004 Whenever I close Internet Explorer my cookies are automatically deleted and the location bar (and any history) is automatically cleared. Does anyone know how to change this so that the cookies and location bar don't get cleared every time I close the IE window? I've searched all throughout Tools and Internet Options but haven't yet had any luck. Quote
Claude Posted October 3, 2004 Report Posted October 3, 2004 Could it be that you have installed a software that does this? Quote
Craig23 Posted October 3, 2004 Author Report Posted October 3, 2004 I don't think so. If it is software, I have no idea what it is. I'm pretty sure it is just a setting on Internet Explorer that I am missing. Quote
Jim R Posted October 4, 2004 Report Posted October 4, 2004 Craig, what version(s) of IE are you using? With our original browser software (AOL, which I believe used IE 4?), there is a "Toolbar" option under preferences which offers a choice for clearing the history trail at each signoff. I don't see anything similar for cookies, however. With IE 5.1.7, which is what I'm mainly using now, I don't see any obvious preference settings that would explain this. Quote
Craig23 Posted October 4, 2004 Author Report Posted October 4, 2004 I'm using version 6. There is an option under Tools-->Internet Options-->Advanced tab where one can automatically delete cookies when the browser is closed, but I don't have that option checked so I'm not sure why it is doing that. Perhaps it is just a bug and I should reinstall (though it isn't a big hassle so I probably won't). Quote
