JohnS Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 This was down for AOTW but it looks like it's been deleted. Sorry etherbored I hope you don't mind me resurrecting it. It's worth an airing. I'm one of those who always enjoys the standards trio. I like Jarrett's way with standards, the melodies are treated with the right amount of respect and the chosen tempos always seem perfect. His long lines can be almost breathtaking. Dejohnette is especially impressive on this set catching the ear all the time. For some reason I never found the previous quartets any where near as interesting. Quote
etherbored Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 For some reason I never found the previous quartets any where near as interesting. me neither... the music isn't as dense (as the offerings from the so-called european quartet) and allows, at least me, the room i like to absorb what i'm hearing. -e- Quote
RDK Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 Not that anyone asked, but this was, iirc, the second CD I ever purchased. Quote
JohnS Posted March 26, 2005 Author Report Posted March 26, 2005 No other comments on the Standards Trio???? Quote
