Ever since American Beauty (yes, I'm a late comer to this guy's scores), I've been hunting around for most of the stuff he has so far produced. Admittedly, there's a certain sameness to a lot of his film scores, but man, I like a lot of it. Maybe it's the moodiness and the often sparse arrangements? Or the lavish orchestration on other pieces? The Indian/Asian influences? I don't know, but Newman has written lots of things that more often than not make my mind work a lot more than other composers' scores. Quote
