slide_advantage_redoux Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 (edited) I picked up a beauty of an old nakamichi portable cassette recorder. Model 550. This must have cost a lot when it was new. It has great features, including 3 mic inputs (L, R and blend, but with 1/4 inputs only), a warning light that alerts the user when tape is running low, calibration adjustment controls, progamming timer, etc. It runs on 12 volts, either 8 D batteries or the ac adaptor (which unfortunately is lost). The deck is not quite as dusty as these pics might suggest. My digital camera mastery is pretty slim. Reportedly, this model was used when many of the Grateful Dead concerts were recorded by fans. (also reportedly, the Dead didn't object to bootlegging) Looking forward to using this for rehearsals, etc. Anyone here familiar with this unit, and/or know a source for a 12 volt adaptor with the type plug that Naks use? May analog never die! (or did it already??) Edited May 21, 2005 by slide_advantage_redoux Quote
Guest Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 Hello slide_advantage_redoux. Did you find an A/C adaptor? Quote

Did you find an A/C adaptor? ← Hi No not yet, but I did find a website/store that services Naks and they have an adaptor. Unfortunately, it costs more than my budget will allow at the moment. Quote
