That's a great price. I remember (OK it was in the 80s) when samples like this cost a fortune. Because, of course, sampled sound was going to replace every live orchestra player in the country! :D (sounds funny but I remember seeing statements like this in my Musician's Union newsletters - wasn't there a propoal that would require you to record (say) a violinist's sound at scale if you needed a sample, or am I nuts?).

Are you using this just through your keyboard or will you trigger the sounds from your guitar as well?

Just for programing with a midi keyboard. I need some decent sounds to compose & score with. I might have an opportunity to write some more "classical" music and my old Proteus/2 orchestral synth isn't flexable enough.

I'm 99% sure I'm buying GPO.

I haven't checked lately, but I think they still do.

Check the demo player on their web site. Nice sounds...

So David, you typically keep the synths and the guitars apart (in composing and performing) then? (ie, no MIDI interface)

I don't use any midi in performance now. Last time was June 2001, then I started to play the microtonal guitar in public. Improvisations turned into compositions. I've started a piece for Cello and Microtonal Guitar that I'm writing on the guitar.

I wrote a string qt. last year at the computer with a Korg MS2000 and started another one a few months ago. Someone is suggesting I write for a larger group.

So it really depends on what I'm working on.
