Jim R Posted June 5, 2005 Report Posted June 5, 2005 Perhaps not, but on my 1992 OJC CD version of the Burrell / Raney TWO GUITARS album, I just noticed that there's an error regarding the title of track 4. It's labeled as "Close your eyes" (with credit given to that tune's composer, Bernice Petkere), but the song played on the recording is actually "I'll close my eyes" (written by Buddy Kaye and Billy Reid). I assume that this error has always gone uncorrected, because the Prestige discography also lists the tune as "Close your eyes". Both tunes were recorded by a variety of jazz artists, so maybe this error has occurred elsewhere as well. Oddly enough, Johnny Griffin and Horace Parlan recorded an album of duets titled CLOSE YOUR EYES in 2000, but the tune they played on that (correctly labeled) was "I'll close my eyes". Quote
Michael Fitzgerald Posted June 5, 2005 Report Posted June 5, 2005 Yes, looks like this is wrong in all the standard sources. There are a number of other similar cases - Just Squeeze Me vs. Squeeze Me, for example. Mike Quote
