Guest akanalog Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 anyone here listen to any rune grammafon material? i have been intrigued because of the ECM connections-nordic and nice cover art primarily.... but i don't listen to too much modern or electronic music any more. i heard one supersilent disc and it was ok, but is there anything spectacular on this label? without hearing too much i chuckle that this label might be doing what matt shipp and the blue label try to do, but in a much more low key and less self-conscious way. John B Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 (edited) Out of the Supersilent discs 6 is very very good. 4 and 5 are not quite up to the same level, in my opinion. 1-3 is enjoyable, but formative. I've also heard the Deathpod box (which contains the single album Morals and Dogma) and really enjoy it. It is a lot more ambient than Supersilent. Deathprod (the name of one guy) is a member of Supersilent. Browsing the catalog I'd be most interested in hearing the Jazzkammer and Food discs. also, there is no real "ECM-connection" other than a now-discontinued distribution agreement. ECM used to distribute their discs. I don't really hear any similarites musically. Edited July 14, 2005 by John B Quote
Guest akanalog Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 yeah i think you misunderstood me. just the nordicness and the consistent/attractive album design was where i drew ECM parallels. i am pretty sure the music is totally different. i heard supersilent 6-it was aight. i don't need to hear more supersilent, but i am interested in other stuff.
