Mosaic Select question

Forgive my (Mosaic) ignorance, but is this set (and other Selects, in general) a compilation taken from various albums or a true 'selection' taking 3 or 4 albums from a certain period in Brookmeyer's life (successive releases maybe?) and presenting them in a 3 disc bundle?

The latter (discrete albums/sessions). Here's the Brookmeyer Select discography. And that's a real nice one, by the way--I just listened to it again within the past week or so.
