Guest Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 Has anyone heard of Octobop? Happened upon their website while looking for L.A. Confidential 'type' music. IMO they sound fantastic. Like some of the Gerry Mulligan and Howard Rumsey stuff I have on 10 inch LPs but smoother. Usually I have to listen to something first to appreciate it. Dropped by Sally's Place in Westport, Ct last week and she was playing something I liked but was unfamiliar with ....Quiet Kenny (Kenny Dorham). While I love Miles Davis "Blue Haze," the Cellar Door sessions were kinda discord IMO and I returned the set to Tower. Go figure LOL. BTW, I am not a kid...58 LOL...and despise Kenny G. Going through my CDs and vinvl, found most of it to be West Coast, bebop, big bands and too many Christy, Connor and Jeri Southern albums. Quote
