David Ayers Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 (edited) I've got a spare ticket for the BBCSO concert with Hilary Hahn playing Schoenberg's violin concerto and Peter Eotvos conducting. Tonight 29th March - let me know if interested. Edited March 31, 2006 by David Ayers Quote
Bright Moments Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 wish i could go she's GREAT!!!!! Quote
David Ayers Posted March 31, 2006 Author Report Posted March 31, 2006 (edited) Yes she was great. Incredible to see anyone performing the Schoenberg - it looks incredibly difficult to perform. Since she has learned it I really hope it gets recorded. She brought it off really well. A new and pin-sharp version of this on CD would be very welcome. Chalupa Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 She was a student at the Curtis Institute of Music here in Philly. I got to see her perform many times for free. One performance that sticks out was her rendition of Brahms' Violin concerto(piano reduction). She was probably about 12 years old at the time. What I remember, besides her great playing, was watching her when she wasn't playing. She would close her eyes and sway gently back and forth listening to the piano. You could tell she really loved this piece of music. Quote

I plan to see her this summer during the first week of the Philadelphia Orchestra's summer season at the Mann Center. I guess as sort of a celebration of this being the Mann's 30th anniversary, they have quite a line-up of soloists for 3 nights in a row that first week: Itzhak Perlman the first night, Emanuel Axe the second night, and then Hilary the third. And then the next week, Yo-Yo Ma! Quote
