Guest Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 I'm looking at getting at joining an online music subscription service in addition to downloading songs I really want to keep in my library. When I'm working on a version of song, I want to hear at least six different (hopefully, *very* different) versions of the songs. I think an online service would be my best bang-for-the-buck for this use. Thing is most promote themselves by their popular collection. In looking for strength in the jazz genre, I like Rhapsody so far. The pure number of songs is pretty strong. I look up "Joy Spring" and I get 21 hits. Clifford Brown ('course), Manhattan Transfer, Arturo Sandoval, like that. "A Night in Tunisia"? 72 hits. Diz, Eddie Jefferson, Ella, Chaka Khan, Lambert Hendricks & Ross... Do you subscribe to an online music service that's particularly strong in the jazz repertoire? By the way, I'm a vocalist particularly interested in bebop and vocalese. Thanks "poker pace" flextone Quote
Shawn Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 Sign up for the free trial of Yahoo Music Service. It's one of the better deals out there...and since it's a subscription service, you can download as many songs as you want to your computer (you just can't burn them). They are powered by a company called MusicNet, they are one of the largest digital distributors in the country and have an excellent jazz collection...including the entire Fantasy catalog. Quote
