Soul Stream Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 So I'm searching iTunes music store and find a totally unavailable title from Spainish jazz guitarist Ximo Tebar done seemingly in the 90's with obscure jazz organist Lou Bennet and Idris Muhammed (only $5.94 for the download). It's titled Hellow Mr. Bennet. A little live thing recorded when Lou was living in Spain right before his death. Sure, he's forced to play a cheezy Hammond clone, but what he does with the basslines is freaking MIND BLOWING SHIT for any organist. He's got a string bass sound going. And well, sure the crappy vibes sound (I actually think it's kinda cool) ain't great and the organ sound ain't happening. But it's a rare chance to hear this guy play and I'm really glad I found it. birdanddizzy Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 He is really good ! The most complete discography of Lou Bennett on the Internet is here : http://mitglied.lycos.de/condouant/lou.html (only his first 45 recorded in the States in 1958 is missing). The album with Ximo Tébar (who played a lot with Joey De Francesco) is listed. I think Lou is not playing a standard B-3 on this album, he is probably using his "Bennett Machine", isn't it ? Quote
