My wife needs a Windows machine for some pretty simple applications. I'd like to pick up a well-priced laptop that can handle word processing, email, web, etc. Nothing big.

Any recommendations? I am not looking forward to setting up a windows machine, knowing that they come loaded with crap, but I gotta do it. Are there any manufacturers that do not ship their machines with proprietary OS add-ons?

Anyone have a decent used laptop they'd like to unload?
