robviti Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Has anyone checked out the new recording by Brian Groder? It features Groder on trumpet and flugelhorn, Sam Rivers on flute and saxophones, Doug Mathews on bass, and Anthony Cole on drums. I was not familiar with Groder before this date, and picked it up largely on the strength of the other players. I like it a lot, and it's recorded rather well. I'd be interested in hearing what other people think. Here's a link to sound clips on Groder's website: Torque and at CdBaby: Torque And here's the cover: Quote
DTMX Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 I'm buying it! BTW: The Sam Rivers Trio has made a second career of backing other musicians like Steve Bernstein (Diaspora Blues) and David Manson (Fluid Motion). Quote
Bol Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Does anyone know of what the deal is with the two trio recordings that Sam Rivers may or may not have released on Rivbea Sounds? These are "Concept" and "Firestorm". I cannot find these anywhere in Amazon, Half, or eBay. But some indications on the web are that they were released in 1995 and 2002 respectively. Quote
