Big Wheel Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 I'm ripping a ton of mono stuff today, at space-saving bitrates. One thing I am having trouble with is determining which sessions are mono! (I'm too lazy to find and download a program which would make it visually obvious.) My problem is especially with the Riverside K2s I got in the big Fantasy sale. Some of these do have "STEREO" clearly marked on them, but others do not, even though they seem to be from years in which the recordings should be stereo (most stuff after 1959, right?) Is there a good rule of thumb to help figure out which of these sessions are stereo? Quote
RDK Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 What, you only have one ear? Do they sound mono or stereo? Quote
Big Wheel Posted January 8, 2007 Author Report Posted January 8, 2007 It's kinda hard to tell when I'm playing them through tiny laptop speakers. Quote

Epithet Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 Don't forget that some ostensibly mono recordings have CDs with differing channels. Quote
