Haven't heard it. but I bet it's good for laughs.

One of the Doo Wop oldies, I think it was "Tonight, Tonight" by the Mello-Kings was a riot. The bass player hit very few right notes. AND it was a I-VI-II-V prgression. I think it was eventually cleaned up or rerecorded for Oldies radio.

the bass playing in rudy vallee's first recording of 'there is a tavern in the town'

Duh! Who DOESN'T own this recording, and know this fact???? :P Actually, never heard it before. Is this the version, or is this the later version of the song???

Artistdirect.com looks like it might be an interesting site.

I have also heard a few Rudy Vallee songs from Betty Boop cartoons(I think, some follow the bouncing ball clip) that sounded pretty good....Do you have a cd of Mr. Vallee? If so, is it worth getting?

Berigan,

Yeah, some (early) Valee recordings are priceless!!

I learned this after a lengthy tutorial by none other than TINY TIM!!!!

Man, he was cool! No joke!

He had an encyclopedic knowledge of THEE earliest recordings.

When I spent an afternoon with him, he continously produced AMAZING

recordings by Billy Murray, Russ Columbo...& SO many more.

God Bless Tiny Tim!!!!!!
