skeith Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Some of Gato's finest playing and compositions are on Under Fire, which is to me actually better than Bolivia (which is the lead album under this cd), which is also good. This is before Gato went commercial with Herb Alpert on A&M, and if that's all the Gato you have ever heard, this will be a revelation. the sound is quite good (24 bit) and superior to the european jewel box version. SEK Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 I agree with you about "Under Fire". That, "The Third World", and "Fenix" are my three favorite Gato Barbieri-led albums. I think that "Bolivia" is a bit of a letdown, by comparison. Quote
vibes Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Listened to this one a couple times today. "Third World" and "Fenix" are my favorite Barbieri albums, and if you like those, you'll like this new reissue as well. I think Lonnie Liston Smith and Gato Barbieri make a great team. Now, if they'd only release "El Gato"... Quote
chris olivarez Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 We'll just have to agree to disagree. I love "Bolivia" for me it's a desert isle disc but I love the other ones too. Is this a US reissue? For years the only way you could get Flying Dutchman reissues is through Europe and this something that seriously pisses me off. Quote
