slide_advantage_redoux Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 (edited) I have been wanting to get Dennis on a gig with me for awhile now, and we are finally getting the opportunity. I will be leading my quartet at Cezanne's in Houston on Sept 13th (Saturday). We play from around 9:30 to 1:30. http://www.jazzhouston.com/venues/about.jsp?key=7 If you haven't been to Cezanne's before, it is a very intimate, small venue; ideal for listening, and assholes who talk during sets usually don't come there. There really isn't a bad seat in the place, and the acoustics are great. The staff is very nice too. My group that night: Myself - trombone Dennis Dotson - tpt/flgh David Craig - ac. bass * Tim Solook - drums * tentative I have played with Tim and Dave several times in the past when I came down to play, and they are ideal players for a "piano-less" group. We will be playing a mix of my originals and standards. If it goes like I expect, we will be playing very loosely, having a great time! If you are in Houston and can make it by, that would be great! Please say hello if you do. Edited August 20, 2008 by slide_advantage_redoux Quote
Free For All Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Sounds like big fun, Greg! Wish I could come hear you guys. Dennis is a great player and a terrific guy. I really enjoyed the opportunities to hang and play w/him when I was living in Austin. Have fun! Tear it up! Quote
marcello Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 I remember when Dennis played with Woody Herman. I have some photos somwhere... Quote
