epistrophy007 Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 I just love Donna Brooks 'I'll Take Romance' Dawn recording from 1956, with marvelous backings by the Alex Smith trio. Seems she made her debut on record with the great Mat Matthews, but can't find any information about it. The only other session mentioned under her name at http://www.jazzdiscography.com/Leaders/BrooksDonna-ldr.php is a 7" Bethlehem record wit Chuck Wayne and a very young Bonny Scott. But the liner notes from the Dawn recording refer to a session where she's backed with Mat Matthews group... Did she ever recorded after 1956? Who knows something more about her? Many thanks! j.
