kh1958 Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Has anyone else had the opportunity to hear this duo on Asian Improv featuring Jon Jang on piano and David Murray? It's rather superb. Quote
DrJ Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 I haven't, but would be mighty interested. I am a huge fan of the Jang recording TWO FLOWERS ON A STEM (Soul Note), which features Murray and Jang but also James Newton, Billy Hart, Santi Debriano, and a traditional Chinese musician named Chen Liebeng playing Erhu, a stringed instrument that has a really haunting sound. One of my favorite recent jazz recordings. Quote
kh1958 Posted November 3, 2003 Author Report Posted November 3, 2003 That sounds like a good one as well. River of Life has lots of bass clarinet and very lyrical, engaging melodies. Quote
JohnS Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 "River Of Life" is fine but as DrJ says "Two Flowers On A Stem" is the cd to buy. One of my all time favourites. Quote
White Lightning Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 (edited) Up A really fine album, that I played quite often in the last year Edited February 12, 2008 by White Lightning Quote
robviti Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 i'm definitely interested in this pairing, but what's this got to do with live shows and festivals? Quote
