Found an informative review of this material online:

"These unassuming bargain packages offer a wealth of rare and important recordings from the 1960s and ‘70s by one of the greatest of South African musicians. Pianist and composer Abdullah Ibrahim, who originally recorded under the name Dollar Brand....The first four tracks on “African Sun” comprise two thirds of a classic LP from 1971, originally released under the title “Dollar Brand + 3 with Kippie Moeketsi” (Gallo-Soultown KPS113).

Alto sax player Moeketsi was an important figure in the development of South African jazz, playing a key role in revitalising the music, by drawing together the threads that link American bebop with the African tradition. A long period of inactivity (which immediately preceded this recording) and his death at a comparatively young age, mean that any of his recordings are especially valuable, and the sheer raw intensity of his playing on these recordings shows just why he was so highly respected by his peers.

Ibrahim himself, as ever, displays his characteristic combination of brilliance, passion and composure, playing wonderfully. This is powerful, vital music of the highest order - it’s certainly jazz, but at the same time it is deeply and unequivocally African. The CD also includes a lovely solo piano track “Gwidza” from 1974, and a further five from later in the decade with various bands, including musicians of the calibre of Basil Coetzee, Barney Rachabane and Sipho Gumede. Every track is outstanding, but special mention for “African Herbs”, with Ibrahim double-tracked on piano and keyboards, and Coetzee’s beautiful tenor sax.

Across the various discs in the series, you can put several other rare LPs back together, jigsaw-fashion, while some incorporate them wholesale. For example “Voice of Africa” (Camden CDN1007) offers the whole of the great 1974 album “Mannenberg" (The Sun SRK786134) - frequently described as “legendary”.
