Ben Goldberg's "go home" quartet

with curtis fowlkes on trombone, goldberg on clarinet, scott amendola on drums, and charlie hunter on guitar. saw them at a club in albany, ny that usually presents rock/prog. apparently they are on a small east coast tour ending up at the jazz standard in nyc in about 7 days. next up is the iron horse. about 90 minute set. while they have a cd out, fowlkes appeared to be a little unfamiliar with the music. amendola and hunter were a tremendous rhytmn section. set up groove that goldberg and fowles could ride on. goldberg's writings were interesting. I would see them again and may drive to the iron horse to do so
