Dave James Posted December 27, 2009 Report Posted December 27, 2009 (edited) ESPN is reporting that Urban Meyer has resigned from the Florida football program. He's been in the hospital twice in the last month for heart related concerns and even though his problems are not life threatening, continuing stress will not be helpful.. Time will tell if there's more going on here, but for now, he's out for health reasons. Edited December 27, 2009 by Dave James Quote
papsrus Posted December 27, 2009 Report Posted December 27, 2009 Made for an interesting night in my neck of the woods. Was home on break from work feeding the animals when the boss called. "We're tearing up the front." Nice lazy Saturday turned into a nice newsy one. It's certainly a health issue. Florida is pretty much a dream job, one of the top 4 or 5 coaching jobs in America, along with USC, Notre Dame, Texas, so there's no other reason for him to step down. He's apparently going to remain in Gainesville and possibly have some sort of advisory role in the program. It'll be interesting to see who they can get to replace him at this late date, and how his resignation affects this year's recruiting class, which is right now ranked as the top recruiting class in the country, I believe. When they were looking for a replacement for Zook, Mike Shanahan was someone they pursued. Gruden? It'll be a little strange with no Bowden or Meyer in the state next year. Quote
