Peter Johnson Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 Hey all. My first-gen iphone is biting the dust, so I thought I'd check to see if anyone here has one kicking around after upgrading or what have you, that they'd like to sell me. second-gen is fine too, but seems less likely to be available used. No preference as to memory capacity; should still be AT&T-ready for me to pop in my sim card. Thanks for looking. Peter Quote
AmirBagachelles Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 I didn't know you could open an iPhone with anything except a saw. Fomenting a used market with an accessible SIM slot does not sound very Apple. Quote
Peter Johnson Posted March 29, 2010 Author Report Posted March 29, 2010 Believe it or not, it works--that's how I got into "iphone world" in the first place. Bought a friend's used first gen phone; took it to AT&T, opened an account, got a sim card. Easy as that. Quote
AmirBagachelles Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 Can only be done at the AT&T counter? I don't use an iphone, but if i could split my account usage and do the SIM swap myself, between my blackberry and an iphone, I would consider it. I have to use a blackberry for compliance at my job. But I would most often rather use a snappy wifi enabled device, especially on weekends. Quote
Dave Garrett Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 Can only be done at the AT&T counter? Nope. Anyone can do it. I think the iPhones all come with a SIM eject tool now, but a paperclip can certainly be used as well: Removing SIM card prior to iPhone repair Quote
