Two sessions recorded in Norway and Denmark. Sound and visual quality excellent, as we've come to expect from the Jazz Icons series. If you've heard Monk play, but never seen him, this is the one to get. His extraordinary technique is closely observed, particularly on the Norwegian session, where you can also almost see Rouse thinking as Monk feeds him chords! Talking of unorthodox keyboard styles, I suppose no film exists of Carl Perkins in action?
