nickgrinder Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Has anyone checked out this guy's work? I was just hipped to him about a year ago and got around to really digging his records a few months ago. Wow! His CD Reflections and New Standards are some of my favorite records now - very tasty, fresh playing with a killin' rhythm section including Drew Gress and John Hollenbeck. He also has a lot of educational material around the internet with a very interesting take on not only trombone (his instrument) but on music in general - very creative and organic. I bought an educational DVD that he just released and it has helped me quite a bit in terms of having a better relationship with music and my instrument. I recommend all his stuff very highly. Check it out - http://www.edneumeister.com/ Here's some youtube previews of Ed's DVD you all might find interesting. Let me know what you guys think! Quote
Free For All Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 I know Ed and have a lot of respect for him. He's very smart and articulate, he's a good teacher and most important he plays his ass off. Quote
Spontooneous Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Nice guy and good storyteller, in addition to being a great player and provocative composer. This CD is darned fine. And his solo feature "Sticks" with the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra is a must-hear. Quote
